So, make sure you choose your garage door company carefully. A reputable company with membership to a professional association is a good place to start. These companies are bound by strict codes of conduct and so you can generally be assured that they’ll do their job well. It’s important to go with a garage door company that you feel comfortable with, which is why we also advise that you speak with family, friends and neighbours who might have recently dealt with a company. Generally speaking, if they were happy with the service received, you should be okay.
A reputable company is probably going to charge you more than someone who cuts corners, but that’s because they actually care about training their staff and investing time into completing projects. That said, make sure you ask them about all the aspects of the work, why are they choosing certain components over others? What kind of insulation are they using? How thick is the steel? Remember, the better quality, the more durable, the less repairs!
Doing a Little Bit Goes a Long Way
Simply investing in quality isn’t enough, you need to be prepared to put in a little bit of work every now and again. I’m not talking hours and hours, just 10‑15 minutes every few months to make sure all the parts are well lubricated and that everything is working order.
